As we look at this drawing we must ask, are we seeing a ball from above with rings around it? Are we seeing a tube with rings on the inner surface with the hole at the end of the tube? Or is it possible that it is a simultaneous event in which both realities exist? These questions help us make definitions. For the purpose of demonstrating a wave, lets assign the symbolic meaning to this picture. If we are trying to understand a wave form, we would want to grasp that an event would transmit energy as a wave equally in all directions from the center.
