Advocate

advocate: a person who argues for or supports a cause or policy

An artist's advocate may advance the recognition, or career of an an artist in many differing ways. As an example of a famous artist's advocate; Mrs. Theo Van Gogh was a relentless advocate of Vincent Van Gogh, Ms. Peggy Guggenheim was a persistent advocate of Jackson Pollack. Also Pollack's wife Lee Krasner was a persistent advocate promoting his appreciation.
