    An Interdisciplinary Expression

Crossing Borders is a show about increasing vision and language. The compelling artworks in the Crossing Borders exhibition demonstrate the artists command of both traditional and new media technologies. In itself the embrace of an evolving frontier exemplifies the spirit of moving beyond limitations. The definition of borders is approached as generally accepted limits defining a range of action. This may be a discipline, a genre, media, technology, or ideas within a defined sphere.

Some of the artworks chosen in this group, underline technological marriage with tradition. They are a realization of the migration to the inevitability of technology. These pieces embrace the tradition of playfulness as a core to insights of esthetic virtue. Technophobia brings pre-established perspectives, which harken to a simpler age. The fact that in "the good old days" the artists of the time were scrambling to incorporate mathematics, geometry, camera obscura and new pigments gets lost in the nostalgia. The strength of these pieces is in the affirmation that the artist is the spiritual guide bringing what is necessary to surpass technological limitations.

Glen River’s Formative Path captures the transformative stages of organic forms in their confluence with geometric mathematics. The process of tangling and untangling is the proto-structural "Formative Path". Pattern interlaced into shapes bear resemblance to organic constellations.

What we only see as an empty space, is an example of ecological architecture. The Grand Canyon paintings present a reality of time and the collective forces of nature through seasonal events. Ideas of identity referring to a social reality lose their importance against the majesty of nature serene in the partnership with elemental Earth. The existence of being stands on the fulcrum of nature, society and individuality. We, like the Grand Canyon, continue to weather the forces of change. Like the paintings we live in a myth which surrounds us like an atmosphere. Vales of color placing relationships of space and form exposed for our pondering. A quality of spirit alludes to Shinto. Layers of glazed color imitate light and mist. Images tell stories that we might easily miss. We use our cameras to grab life, but we often pass by the momentous and enshrine the mundane. The art is a precipitate we stand on to precise the poetry of our ability to see. The paintings convey the essence of the portraits of place and the meaning of our journey.

Portraits Of Place is a modern day odyssey. It brings the "Place" to the viewer. Like the early explorers, the portraits capture stories of the landscape. The project has entered a new phase with a focus on interpretation. The new work is wholeheartedly engaged in presenting the splendor and the fragility of nature. The strategy is to document life as contemporary history. Interest in formal design elements, and the landscape tradition energize the intuitive story. Painted works explore a sense of place as cultural environment. This journey lifts our spirits and embodies the passion of a discoverer. we were constantly awed by the majestic landscapes and its breath- taking views few have had the privilege to see into the secret visions of natures hidden corners.

Cityscapes similarly describe a feeling of our ordinary places. The lens of humanity makes them an intentional icon of time as well as place. The artist underlines our place as a period within a greater perspective. The borders of our perception frame a perpetual "normalcy." The expansion of our borders goes beyond the frame to include a gallery of visions which suggest a new sphere of relationships.

The Books are a sampling of One Of A Kind, Hand Made, Limited Editions, On Demand, and e-Books

Art Journal 2 (One Of A Kind)
This journal was started in 2001, re-worked through 2006, and continued around 2010. The Black Thread Stiching was snipped sometime between 2006-2010. It apears that the intention was to take apart the book and work the pages individually or frame seperately. This was never compleeted. The book remains in tact.

The photos of pages were taken in December 2010. At this time there is no poetry included.
