Our Town

Our Town

We were just a sleepy hollow
Where families came to rest
To live
to breath the easy country air

A fair wind
Filled our sails
And we
had a duck race,
parades, elections,
sports on the open fields
Art fair, theater
and library too
And schools for education

We got
crazy with a gun

We got children left inside
children on the run
We've got soldiers, swat,
and parents, police,
President, and governor
And the worlds all seeing eye

And their is nothing
any one can do

The world has gone away

And now
there's me
And you

We've been shot to peaces
Peaces laying on the ground
Peaces yet to find
We've have lost
our peace of mind
We've have lost our minds
Peaces
yet to find

Is this what it takes
to love our neighbor ?

No, our love was ok
Not perfect like
Gandy, Jesus, Martin Luther King Jr., Budda or Mother Terasia
But ok
There was help
There was good will

There was not
the knowledge
Or wisdom of
Where and what
Was needed

There was help
If we only knew
Where and how

We don't ... know why

We cry
We promise not to forget
We look at the children around us
We try to be better
Friends, parent, partner
Bystander, passer by

We try to be better
