About

River was born in Washington D.C. 1944. The family soon moved to Greece. Until 1949 they lived outside Athens where River was influenced by cultural diversity. Music and Drawing articulated his imagination. Formal training in art included The Cleveland Ins. Of Art, S.V.A., Art Students League, The Silvermine College Of Art, A.F.A., Yale University, B.F.A., M.F.A., and The Ruskin School Of Drawing.

River is also a computer geek who has developed proprietary intellectual property involved in his new media and mixed media art. His prolific nature has maintained pace with technology. Installations have bridged the multidisciplinary art into unique expressions of meaning.

His interests led him to become a composer, writer, artist, producer and director. He has produced, directed and edited numerous documentary-style features on subjects ranging from 7 artists reflecting on their shared art school to poets and songwriters finding their voice at open mic. His extensive investigations in New Media have had him crossing borders between fine art , traditional media, and digital works, movies, and music all reaching the core of the creative experience.

His life has been described as containing "Multiple simultaneous lives within a single individual." The depth and scope of his art has rendered it un-classifiable. His method of process which he has described at various times as; Dynamica (a learning system), Zen Process (assimilation of complexity in the art of doing), Spherical Thinking (a paradigm shift in world view). Mega File ~
mega file construction is a experimental digital picture which is huge. It can be experienced with a viewing program. The experience is basically zooming in to details of the picture which expand into a newly defined interior microcosm. The clarity of the microcosm contains more levels to zoom in further. The viewer may at any time roam the picture in any direction as well as zooming in and out. Although this is a 2D picture, though the experience has a flying feel. In a later project I will bring it into a virtual 3D space with sculptural movement.

Why would anyone want to absorb into their body of knowledge all the skills, and procedures necessary for these creations which are normally outsourced to professions with specialists dedicated for these functions? The only way to understand every detail of this art is from A to Z in all it’s complexity without interruption. This fluidity of understanding allows a dilation of focus within a huge amount of information.
