This is a version of Liberty I may make available for voter awareness.
This painting represented my frustration with unresponsive leadership involved with the Viet Nam war, who absorbed
hypocrisy, denial, and falsification into their daily work. My sentiments were also expressed
in my songs.
Lyrics From Faces:
It's only the faces that I have seen,
only the hearts & minds who live to build the dream
of a nation which can stand out like a beacon in the night,
for truth, respect, and freedom and every persons right
to be part, of that dream,
America the brave, we all have seen,
where we work, as a team
for our children's place in the world and a better tomorrow.
It's only the jobs which must be done,
only the weekly wage which keeps us on the run,
while our destiny slips by and lets us gently fall asleep,
our pockets lined with promises the shepherds never keep,
and we wake, in a rage,
we sought out that life must have a change,
and it goes on forever.
it's only the profits kept out of sight,
only the vast and growing payoffs made to keep
the power and the privilege in hands that work for greed
against our nations honor and against our nations need,
It's only the sound of nothing said,
only the blinding glare of emptiness that's led
to the discovery of deception and repeated misspent deeds,
laughable conclusions and a faith in empty creeds,
and a blow, to our pride,
our nation's honor and it's values tossed aside,
let the dream be revived,
and return to the labor of building a nation together.
