As the brutality escalated at home as well as
in the war, the traumatic shock of events
made it difficult for anyone to maintain a
well considered balance. Somehow a feeling
persisted that when the war ended, the
stupidity and self indulgent blinders would
go with it.
In the painting I had the wounds of the
martyr where eyes should be. Everyone has
blood in their eyes.
