Sebastian can never die. What he is, is part
of the fabric of us all. Like the idea that a
population can be bombed into submission,
brutality inspires heroic resistance. Only
strong disciplined individuals can enter into
conflict without loosing themselves in the
popular myth of brutality.
In the painting some are bewildered that
Sebastian is absent from his resting place.
One, looking up, sees Sebastian. He is
holding the light. His shadows are imbued
with the green color associated with
Sebastian.
